    I have had this information from Mike Mead-Briggs, Court family researcher, about the above, with a correction that it was the Rose Inn which was formerly the Paris Tap, viz:

    "Paul Skelton was trying to find out about the Hope Inn, which the text said was later called the Paris Tap, but that is not correct. There were a couple of words lost from the text somehow. It should have said:

    ... the Hope Inn, the Rose Inn (formerly the Paris Tap), ....

    That's why he had never heard of the link between the Hope and the Paris Tap. Perhaps you could add a comment to the forum site to correct this, if you think it worth bothering.
