    I can absolutely see what Howard, Keith et al are saying, and I am confident that PCSOs do lend a greater safety and communication pathway to local communities, but I totally support what Sid says: that is what beat bobbys were for, and there was no need to debate about increasing their powers as they already had them. For me, PCSOs, who are fab and contribute a lot, are at heart another civvie layer to the police rather than The Police.
