    Firstly let me say I think PCSO's do a grand job and they are all to be commended for creating a successful service.

    That said, and only going on the examples provided by Keith, I see nothing there a normal beat copper couldn't do. We don't need the street crawling with law officers of different types, just regular sightings on foot of those looking out for our communities and properly empowered to do so. They can of course, be backed up by fast moving bike and vehicle cops when required. A reduction in admin and admin staff, plus chauffeur driven limousines for the top brass should be done away with, along with anything else not material to the prevention of crime and nabbing of crims.

    The current lack of respect for the Police is a direct result of years of invisibility on their part. Ergo, they created the problem and should therefore resolve it. I also don't foresee a need to increase frontline officer numbers, or reduce them for that matter.
