    There is nothing to match the old fashioned policeman on his beat, but sadly I suppose he is a thing of the past.

    He knew the likely troublemakers and kept an eye on them.

    The young did not grow up only seeing a policeman when there was trouble.

    The police were not viewed with contempt by the general public as they seem to be now.

    The police just dash round in their cars with little interest in minor crime. Well that is the impression they give the public, which is a great shame. I have never seen a policeman of any kind walk down my road unless they are going to or from their car.
