There's a useful website here that allows overlays of various types of designated areas onto an Ordnance Survey map

It's fairly obvious from this that just because an area is covered by an AONB it doesn't mean no building is allowed, e.g. following along from Farthingloe the next major areas covered are Capel and Hawkinge, plenty of building going on there recently.
