Well the presidential debates are over...but who won overall?? The answer is Romney no question. Although the second two debates were seen as roughly even between the two contenders, both teams were convinced their man had won which was fair enough, but Obama's poor performance in the opening debate where he looked ditheringly tired and exhausted had left him forever trying to catch up on a newly vibrant Romney.

The reason I say Romney won is that here we have a candidate who was dead in the water..the newspapers and media generally were writing him off, his staff were booking the plane tickets home, but once the debates started....POW! .. it all changed. The gaff prone goofball had gone and we at last saw a real contender with statesmanlike appeal. Obama was no longer cruising to victory but was reeling on the back foot.

Now today the polls are even steven where before Romney was bringing up a decided rear, he was eating the Obama dust. So the guy who gained most from the debates was Rottweiler Romney..his aggressive style shocked Obama and woke up the American voter, he woke them up enough to bring himself level in the polls.

The third debate where they were both seated was a calmer affair with Romney pushing his cool statesman image for all it was worth and Obama highlighting his successes in foreign policy...but now with the polls neck and neck.. one is reminded what that evergreen detective would say.."the games afoot Watson"

ps: For the fashionistas..the wives managed NOT to wear the same outfits this time. That lurid pink moment is now dead and buried.
