Tomorrow will see both my wife and myself going to the Lord-Lieutenantof Kent Service of Thanksgiving for Public Service to Kent at the Canterbury Cathedral ,I am the Representative of the River Parish Council, I am told there will be some 1500 at the service,we are in the unreserved seats so will be at the back.I must say we do like to dress up from time to time and having the service at the Cathedral is great.

I don't know about that Ray.......If all the seats have gone then surely he'll be standing.
Iv'e been thinking, why is this site called the Dover Forum?
Shouldn't it be called the VM forum?

I sent my apologies Sue.
I am aware Bernard B. was going otherwise you would have been there.
Good man Alan Willett, Lord Lieutenant. He has overcome many serious health problems & fulfilled his role with superb dedication.
He has a good team of Deputies some active, others eyes & ears. Bill Newman falls into the latter category. Nice chap supported by an excellent wife.

ALL POSTS ARE MY OWN PERSONAL VIEWS
Another wast of tax payers money, now we have to say thank you for what they get paid for. I am really getting sick of this country Cuts Cuts Cuts
and here we are wasting money, the food and drink after will cost a fortune, do the job you all get paid for then you might get the thanks you deserve There are thousands of people who do so much for Public Service to Kent and while they are working there buts off the chosen few will sit on the pews and take all the credit you make me sick.

Alan, you are off track with this one,the few was over 1500, and all public services were there ,after no cups of tea for most of us,there was a collection we put into.most of us are unpayed volunteer,s and the service was thank all for the public services and volunteers for what they do in the year.So please tell me what is wrong with that.? We take no credit and do not what it anyway we do it because we want to.Are you one of the 1000s you are talking about?May I also aske, are you one of the tax payers you talk about.?I am and so were most of the others at the service, and most pay alot more than we do.

It is only your back geting up mate. And the wording of your post. And you are wrong about me braging I have never done that in my life. I have no more to say this,I might add what about the civic event you was at the same one I was to, ticket only and did I not see you eating there and that was free.
You are right Vic but you see this post was not set at you it was a general post of how people see that going to a event like this because the lord warden is going to be there is of no interest to them he dose not know them most probably dose not want to know them its the same with the wedding they don't know us they would not give us the time of day so why is it such a big deal when people are going in front of some dignitary they don't know .and as you say Vic I was at the town council civic awards but they are real people doing real things, our mayor a real down to earth person along with every one else that was there Including your good self real people. I will say no more on this I will just differ. thank you for your time.

This is an annual ceremony to thank people who gave their time, money and expertise for the common good. To those who received an invitation I say, Well Done. To those who carp at the expense, or criticise those who attend, I say Get A Life.

To put this to bed .In the case of Parish Council representatives .Two tickets were sent and any Parish Councillor could opt to go .I was present at two Parish Council meetings and did not see a rushof people wanting to attend .
It is usual for the Chairman to go but River Parish Council Chairman could not attend .
