    Paul, that bit of beach just visible behind the toilet block in you picture was known as the town beach. Until the dualling of Townwall St in that area it had boat plots run by DDC, the nearest one was held by an ex-lifeboatman (I think his name was Alf Cadman, Terry can probably confirm) who used to sell his paintings of local scenes from his shed on the plot.
