Yes people can be both sensitive and attached to these benches, as mentioned above, for memorial reasons. Ive seen people laying flowers and crying while doing so, and its a very sad business at times.
This bench here below photographed with flowers is on the gardens side of the seafront so probably wont be affected by the current removals, but the picture gives an indication of the kind of thing we are talking about, you can see the sensitivity in these things....
