In the 60's as a child I lived opposite the Dewdrop Inn, it was a few doors down from a bookies which was a few doors down from my dad's butchers. At the top of the street was a greengrocers and on the opposite corner a general grocery store. Another butchers (Co-op) opposite, a Co-op general store too, a men's hairdresser oooh sorry a barber, a newsagent as well which was opposite another small shop (Coopers?). Bottom of the street was a garage and bakers - a wet fish shop opposite, a sweet shop, another pub, a post office. Well thats what I can quickly remember. You could live your whole life and buy virtually all you need within 150 yards of my front door....those were the days and lets not forget the shoemender and all the other small sweet shops and pubs all around...
