Considering the horrendous traffic conditions a surprisingly good turn out of stalls, marquees and people were there for the 10 am kick off.

Such a shame if the regatta is not busy which seems highly likely going by the Facebook comments.

Have just returned from the regatta and it is very busy along the prom and around market square, a great showing from what must be mainly local Dovorians, though town hall and beyond is more like a ghost town.

Most traders had packed up by around 6.00pm and no firework display.

Unless its changed it always used to go on throughout the evening with most traders still open, fairground rides, burger bars etc and local bands on stage then the firework display at around 9.30-9.45pm.

Doesn't seem that long ago that we had a full weekend with fireworks and ending with a "Songs of Praise" sort of thing for those inclined. The Regatta steering group collapsed leaving us with nothing one year then some volunteers got things going again and now DHB organise it.

We had evening entertainment and fireworks last year, I guess the theory is this year people would go on to the music festival.

Why oh why did they choose thi weekend. It used to be in August. It is a busy weekend at the port and in August all the nice events have past.Fetes ,Carnivals why not wait until the school holidays are coming to an end and naturally the children tend to get bored.Flower shows have come and gone.
I always found it difficult to find events that are on when July had passed. So event organisers think of families on limited budget finding what to do in the holidays.
