Maybe it would be better if some opened their own blogs like Barry?

Reg has his own blog. It's called the EGP thread.

I think this is a jolly good idea Post 4 Lesley. Maybe less political then
That way other topics have a chance too. I do have to admit sometimes its guts turning what people write about their political views, As if nothing else exist. Seems like me on a moaning tour
Dont mind?

I think part of the problem is that a thread evolves into a political debate, fine if it is done in a gentle way but sadly, more often than not, it becomes a portal for personal abuse. Frankly, I find it very off putting and hate the pettiness. The only result achieved by this constant sniping is negativite and furthermore, makes anyone reading it less inclined to vote for the parties who act in such a aggresive manner.
We are all guilty of the occasional kneejerk response, that's natural and perfectly acceptable, we need to be passionate about issues which concern us. What we should not do is turn every thread into a political battleground.

#8, congratulations on your appointment as moderator, Keith. I missed the announcement although I was aware of the vacancy.
