    Absolutely Peter

Alex polls are not annulled under UK law because people cannot be bothered to vote, if they were we would rarely if ever get a single MP in the House of Commons, or councillors of any hue as in the vast majority of seats in the last 3 or 4 elections the turnout has been less than 50% by a huge margin.

The general consensus of the political classes in this country id that those who choose not to vote do so as they do not care for the question either way. If you genuinely cared and opposed the motion you should have voted against rather than abstained
