Red Arrows are in the area on Saturday so I expect they will be passing Dover at some point:
1322 - Reds arrive MANSTON, Kent
1547 - Reds depart MANSTON
1600 - Reds display RYE, East Sussex
1632 - Reds recover MANSTON
1832 - Reds depart MANSTON
1840 - Reds flypast FOLKESTONE, Kent
Been nice knowing you :)

Had I known they were in the area I would have requested an official flypast for the Western Heights!!
That said I would be surprised if they didn't skirt the coast on the way down rather than over land
Been nice knowing you :)

I will certainly watch out and hope to see them...
anyone remember the last time they did a display here. A few years ago now. The cloud was heavy and there was talk of cancellation. Loads of people everywhere. As the time approached we all held our breath and hoped they would appear, then right on cue and with a thunderous roar, they broke through the clouds...awesome.
Here they are right over the Gateway...didnt half rattle the Royal Crown Derby... and ruined my minted tea, it slurped all over the saucer. Well I never!

A great sight but at what cost to the public and the enviroment. Have these air displays had their day? I wonder.

I went to see them arrive at Manston recently, could not believe how many people turned up to see the landing, long may they continue to thrill and excite us.

Well worth what ever their cost is.

The cost of the Red Arrows 09/10 was £6.1 million obviously this has risen sharply due to an increase in fuel prices, salaries and inflation.

Not a problem. Now that we are going to have aircraft carriers without aircraft, it is a small leap to having flying displays without flying. The photo below is of the seafront around WW1 and shows what can be done, just need to use a bit of imagination and make your own jet engine noises.
After the Falklands War, they had a carnival in Port Stanley where all the armed forces and civilian units supplied floats. One of the product tankers in my company, Canadian Pacific, acquired a load of wheelbarrows and painted them red with RAF roundels. They paraded through Port Stanley as a formation wheelbarrow team named the Red Barrows.
This is the sort of thing that can be done by the Big Society now that we can no longer afford the real McCoy.

Don't wear anything white - if they do the red/white and blue streaks you may get spotted as I did once on a new white dress, sat on the grass at RAF Cranwell when they came over very low.
