Recommended places to eat

Lovely (Sunday) lunch at Plough & Harrow, Tilmanstone as usual - home cooked roast beef with all the trimmings, and a Lemon Sole - beautiful, then home made raspberry cheesecake and for Bob an apple and pear crumble with ice cream. They now serve a selection of their own delicious ice-creams including a lovely liquorice flavour one! Vegetables are all local when available. Special discounts for senior citizens on Tuesdays and Thursdays for lunch. If you like fish they do a good selection and beautifully cooked and presented.
And, if you have children with you, take them into the garden to see the two delightful black mini-pigs called Del Boy and Rodney ('the trotters')

- 6 October 2013 20:19247376We took my Dad for his birthday lunch yesterday, it had to be his favourite chippie, Pappas on the Quay at Sandwich, always excellent service ( we eat in the small restaurant upstairs) a wide variety of fish and huge portions. Nothing is too much trouble and children are welcomed in true Italian style.

- 7 October 2013 20:34247500Bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit is the Grove Ferry Pub & Inn. The menu relies on the Chefs foraging and uses local produce as much as possible. Great food in a beautiful setting.

Prior to that they have mains sourced from Kent, Sussex & Surrey and also the Kent coastline. I enjoyed a Prawn & Crayfish salad with foraged greens and my son had the smoked salmon, potato rosti with cream cheese and dill, the salmon is smoked in the potting shed on the premises. Think Jamie Oliver and you have a clue to the other dishes on the menu.The avarage mains price is £11.00 and the Little Peoples menu includes a scoop of ice cream at £4.50.
