RAY WARNER EXHIBITION AT DOVER MUSEUM
A unique collection of images capturing life in Dover in the fifties, sixties and seventies is featured in a new exhibition of the work of Dover photographer Ray Warner. This new Stairwell Exhibition is now open at Dover Museum and runs until 19 October.
Ray Warner was a professional commercial and news photographer in Townwall Street from 1939 until 1977, maker of the annual Dover Film from 1947 until his death in 1989, and a keen participant in amateur dramatics. The exhibition includes many of his original studio display prints of people and events in Dover and excerpts of his original 16mm Dover films, presented on a touch-screen console. From wrecks in the Channel to bulldogs in the studio, from famous visitors to a range of local events and people, the collection (bequeathed to Dover Museum by Ray Warner) covers a range of subjects and provides a unique snapshot of life in the town in the fifties, sixties and seventies.
