Hi guys,
Being the Olympics comming up and in view of past events I was rather shocked to have traveled to France on Thursday and not have my passport checked even on re entry to the UK, we was one of a number of cars that only had to wave are passports in air to be let through, is this common procedure now? Only let's face it I could of just waved a passport holder in the air.
Its rather worrying the lapsidaysicle security procedures taking part only weeks away from two of the biggest events in UK history.

The first thing of note is that you did not 'only' wave a passport holder. While there have been loud voices raised to ease the checks on British Passport carriers, the powers-that-be could advise people to display their passports open at the info page?
There must be a middle ground between dismantling each OAP's wheel chair and a free-for-all. I am sure efforts are being made to find that middle ground. License plate recognition, operatives aboard and common sense can all be employed.

on the one hand we get all this talk of rings of steel and missiles being deployed on blocks of flats then we get john's experience of border checks.
terrorists will be doing many dummy runs to see where the weak links are.

[Loose lips, and all that.]
I am sure all who visit these shores for the Games and other leisure pursuits over the summer will be able to have a wonderful time.
BTW
I must today remind a friend in the US that the games are on as he has said he plans to visit over the summer...does he not read the newspapers?
