courtesy of the telegraph, would love to know what he was talking about.
Austin Mitchell, Labour MP for Great Grimsby, claimed "London sucks" in a local newspaper comment piece, saying his phobia has been exacerbated by the mayoral race between Boris Johnson and Ken Livingstone.
He says the capital has damaged regional banks, businesses and TV companies, and "crushed" big cities such as Leeds, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham, Liverpool and Newcastle which "once made Britain great".
He recommends the balance should be distributed throughout the country, giving greater economic weight to regions rather than London and production rather than finance.

disagree brian, companies open where they choose to for maximum returns.
not sure what he is on about with t.v. companies, the bbc have just relocated a lot of their operations to manchester.

He has done well for Grimsby - (my town of birth a long time ago).
Not sure if there are quotas for fishing there now, as all fish brought to Grimsby comes from other fishing ports and not from Grimsby trawlers any more.
A sad end to an amazing history.
Ohhh I could just eat a halibut steak !!

...could be that production is set to return to those wonderful northern cities...in a time which will place industry ahead of financial services.
Never give up...

that's one reason she is going brian, the other one is to meet a representative of the european commission to put our case on the proposed new fisheries policy.
