  Excellent Brian. I've always thought that privatising the railway was a stupid idea dreamed up by a bunch of political merchant bankers.

  I recall going to the House of Commons to see my then MP David Shaw(remember him?) who told me he supported 100% the privatisation of the railways, and was even promoting the view that the govt should be able to STEAL from the railways pension scheme, luckily he didn't get away with the latter.
  
  Of course because Mr Shaw spent more time in Scotland, than his own constituency he soon got the boot
