If railways want to encourage people out of cars and onto trains then they will need to look at reducing fares.
Rail fares are far to high.
of course they have the captive commuter audience which fills the early morning trains to overspill.
maybe reducing the fares at other times would encourage more to use trains
and fill empty trans

The stupidity of a system that caps the increases to peak fares, whilst off-peak rises aren't, defies belief. The rail network should never have been privatised, it is as essential to the country as the road network.

i think renationalisation of he network may happen in the future, network rail receive 4 billion of quid of taxpayers money last time i heard.

nationalisation was no better a lot of wastage
privatisation costs to much and run for shareholders rather than public
we need a new way one that helps the passengers paying such vast amounts to travel
