I have just been listening to a feature concerning Buckland Estate .Those interviewed did themselves no favours what so ever .Talk about running a place down. When I was on the DDC cabinet I oversaw a lot of money and work put into improving the quality of life for the residents I also appreciate the hard work put in by their councillors past and present
Unless dover residents talk up our area and appreciate what some people are doing for them there is very little hope .
Pride bring it back
Trouble is Sue, they are usually the types who think they are owed a living, and everything else. They never will get off their backsides and do something for themslves or talk up their neck of the woods.

As one of the three Councillors for Buckland I can say that there has been much work done with the residents, and other agencies to improve the standards of living and area of Buckland.
And the work is still going on with many residents getting involved, if some as you say wish only to sit back and complain the choice must be theirs.
only a few weeks back we were on local TV news as haveing had the lowest crime rate in the area, but like anywhere we to will always have hot spots and some disgruntled people.
As councillors we all live on Buckland and are proud to do so maybe thoses who have the problems would like to let us know.

I think your last line is very important Jan. Too many people complain to various bodies (including DDC) instead of going through, or talking to, their councillor(s) first.
It happens in the Maxton Elmsvale and Priory Ward too, but most (I believe) contact me to help and I'm always happy to - after all, that's what I'm here for, whether they voted for me or not, is immatetrial.
Roger
Talking of Parish councillors, I have no idea who mine are, where they meet or how often, what they discuss or decide or how to get in touch with them. I suspect this is normal for the great unwashed of our country.
Makes one wonder why we bother to have Parish councils and councillors at all.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Vic...
At the time of their election I know who they are and what they look like also what they waffle on about. Afterwards I forget all about them unless I need them and if I did I would look them up online.

I heard part of the program Howard and one of the complaints was "nothing for the kids to do".
And what exactly were the residents living there doing about it?
Vic and Sue, thank you both very much.
Landlord of The Fox eh? Have started going there for Sunday lunch. Not as pretentious as some public houses, but good food in a very good atmosphere at a good price.
I must ask him what he's doing for me next time I'm in there.

WTF!
Radio Kent's bed time story this evening at 18.45.
A lovely story about a young witch, starts off with a lovely country drive. They spot some lights that turns out to be hare coursers!
The hares and dogs end up by the car, and then follows a graphic description of the dogs attacking the hares thowing them over the car and a hare staring at them from the dogs mouth.
This is the point she discovers her witchiness and summons deer that proceed to Gore the dogs with their antlers!
Don't know about settling little ones down to sleep but it unsettled me while eating dinner.
I know times have changed but really?
