Its been the top story all day a parents determination to get justice for their son, lets hope that rest of the culprits after all this time can be bought to justices as well.

The problem of no early conviction stemmed from the fact that, according to several reports, the Met was "institutionally racist".
Blacks didn't matter, unless of course they were the perpetrators.

The Judge has praised the Met. for their recent work on getting these two convicted and has directed them to go after the others with all haste.
They have had many new calls giving more information, so hopefully it won't be long before we hear that they have been arrested.

i think the others know that their time is coming, new scientific breakthroughs should bring them to book.
the judge could only sentence the other two on the basis that they were under eighteen at the time of the murder.

Let us hope that it is just a matter of time that the allegiance to the others will wain so that they can also be prosecuted and hopefully brought to justice. Eighteen years is an awfully long time to see your son's murderers finally jailed, the Lawrence family have been through so much.

let's not forget that it was a tabloid campaign that eventually brought two of the perpetrators to justice, the mail published the names and photos of all the suspects many years ago under the heading of "murderers", thus forcing the authorities to act.

courtesy `The Week`Commentators said.
The guilty two were `no angels`both belonged to teenage gangs blamed for a string of violent attacks, often racist and
carried out two stabbings the week before Lawrences death alone.Norris was the son of a notorious South London
gangster who paid off witnesses in other cases. The long list of violent attacks makes the lackadaisical response of the
police the more shocking.
The case also highlighted that racism wasn`t just the province of shaven headed thugs but also of many by `collective
thoughtlessness`.

'Collective thoughtlessness' is an excellent phrase and sums up the 'walk on by' attitude very well. I suppose that's the most pernicious aspect of any kind of discrimination, not least because it could lie latent in any of us if we don't guard against it.

We were talking about that just last night. It can be easy to be complacent and assume we are blameless or immune to racism (or sexism, disablism, ageism, and so on, just to be clear, Peter!) but we are the sum of our learned perceptions sometimes, and they can lie deeply buried.
