Would you believe it ---- I was just pipped at the post! for the second year ---- by the winner Geoff Jarvest, his weighed 37 kgs (81.4 lbs), mine 36 kgs (79.2 lbs) !!
(Hope my calculations are correct!) 1 kg is equal to about 2.2 lbs Geoff's pumpkin is the large yellow one, mine the large orange one !
It was a good competition, the third best was grown by junior grower, Reegan Able, and weighed an excellent 18.25 kgs (40.15 lbs)
I was very pleased with my pumpkin. (It is a lovely colour and at present resides in the garage until we decide when to cut it up)
Profits to village hall funds, and pumpkin soup will be served at our Bingo and Supper evening on 4 Nov.
Here are some photos: (All these grown from seed from the same pumpkin from last year):
1st: Geoff's on left (yellow colour);
2nd: mine at back, far right, (orange)
The tiny pumpkin won the booby prize !
The two heaviest: Left: Geoff's, Right: Mine ; and the smallest one
