After four months of falling pump prices, the cost of petrol and diesel has started to rise again. An extra 1p in fuel duty at the start of October has accounted for much of the increase although a higher oil price is now working its way through to the driver.
Oil price: $83 a barrel
Unleaded prices have risen by 2.5ppl from 115.2ppl to 117.7ppl. Diesel prices have also risen, by 3.3ppl, from 118.0ppl to 121.3ppl.
The price difference between unleaded and diesel has risen to 3.6ppl.
London recorded the highest price for unleaded at 118.4ppl. Yorkshire and Humberside recorded the lowest price for unleaded at 116.8ppl. Wales recorded the highest diesel price at 122.2ppl. Yorkshire and Humberside have the cheapest diesel at 120.6ppl.
Supermarket prices for unleaded also rose over the month by 2.4ppl to 115.8ppl. The gap between supermarket prices and the UK average for unleaded has risen to 1.9ppl.
The UK has the twelfth highest unleaded price in Europe and the second highest diesel price.email: dover7@msn.com - Brian Dixon

but check the 3 bp grarages in town,the petrol is 120.9 with diesal a 1p dearer.the esso station is at least 2p cheaper.thats just a few hundread meters from both of us. - 26 October 2010 15:3976729Well thats interesting Brian..but pretty bad for us. If petrol is 120.9 in Dover then its the highest in the entire length and breath of the UK.
I have a further chart here..but charts dont reproduce on the forum, but have looked through the figures. London as mentioned above is
118.4 per litre
next highest is the Southeast at

I will not Buy from that man Hammond as he as stated he his not Interested in local trade only the Mugs going to Europe.I pay 1.13.9 for petrol and Diesel 1.14.9 all over Canterbury I have seen 1.18.9 at Esso at Buckland.

I wonder why the Council invested money in Iceland's economy (or was it a bank!!!) and not in Norway! In the latter case they's have invested in an economy.

Whilst not up to the 2008 peak, there is bound to be a knock on in food prices.

i think the problem is caused by problems in russia, meaning that they need it for themselves and are not exporting much grain. - 27 October 2010 16:3376899Not in Morrison's a hovis brown 50p farm foods 2 4 liter milk 1.50 its a god send when you don't have a lot to spend. I think we moan more about fuel because more of our roads are being dug up with two many diversions wasting are fuel.

Yes milk dirt cheap because loads of dairy farmers being screwed by supermarkets who are paying less than 30p/litre, indeed many dairy farmers have sustained losses over many years, saved from bankruptcy only by the asset of their farms. We are losing two dairy farmers every day. Fifty per cent of our farmers have gone out of the industry over the decade.
The same is happening with bread. This week Tesco dropped 12 Hovis lines as they refused to pay Hovis increased price due to increase in grain prices.
You have to remember that the UK is only 60% self sufficient in terms of food and with the idiots turning food into ethanol to feed cars + the increased purchasing power of India/China it will only get worse.
