    quite right about keeping politics out of this issue.

    earlier in this award winning thread paul w issued an edict from the fuhrer bunker which attempted to widen the debate over funding.

    we all agree that the public toilets are disgraceful, not only in our town, many others too.
    we all know that councils seem strapped for cash.
    we learn from other posters here that when a charge is levied, the filthy element seem to go somewhere else.
    we now know that there is less maintenance and cleaning costs at paid for facilities.

    to my simple way of thinking, the answer is clear, pay at the point of use, to us chaps, pay at the point of pointing.

    we would now just need to know what the number crunchers at town and district council would need to charge to keep these going.

    this does not take away the fact that the closure without discussion was out of order.
