    I have just had a thought - a good one.

    Those of you working in the private sector have had to take pay freezes, pay cuts and reduced working to protect your jobs in the recession. Along with an end to your defined benefit pensions.

    You in the public sector have, belatedly, had to have pay freezes and are having their pensions re-aligned, though they are getting on lightly on both counts compared to those in the private sector.

    Now for the good news. It seems that those of you on benefits will have to start taking some of the economic strain too. They are saying benefits will be frozen. About time too.
