I think you are right, Howard. Why on earth would they decide to hide the reality of the situation in Kent (and obviously Dover in particular) under a veil of contrived secrecy? Having worked in the cross channel business for most of my adult life I can tell you that my industry contacts are well aware of what awaits us if we do tumble off the Brexit cliff.
News today indicates that pragmatism is trying to prevail in so far as sainted Theresa has persuaded the cabinet to endorse a further extension of the transition period. But will the right wingers allow it? Even if they do, the EU is now far too fed up to take the pragmatic approach. Eurotunnel's plans for the reinstatement of its duty free shops in Coquelles are well underway so they clearly expect a hard break of some kind. Not that that means much in itself but the EU will not play ball with us forever. I'll wait for the torrent of abuse now from the "they needs us more that we need them" fantasists.
