    No GaryC - the need for public spending cuts is purely economic. We and much of Europe, in fact, are in the mess we are in simply because of excessive government spending allied to too much taxation that together chokes the productive economy. When you spend more than your income you cut spending, simple. Of course it is more complex in the Eurozone because of the Euro adding to the lack of competitiveness of the weaker countries and limiting their ability to respond.
