It would serve DDC right if L&G (or their parking agent) simply waited until the DDC charges were introduced then lowered the St James charges by just enough to attract punters into the complex. They might even gain from any potential loss in revenue in doing so by obtaining a better rate of vehicle turnover. Punters might even appreciate the gesture by spending more ££s in not just the new complex but also in areas adjacent to the development where DDC Sunday parking charges will apply (always assuming there are any that will open in town on a Sunday). Wishful thinking!! Hey Ho.

I still remain of the firm belief that if no concessionary parking rebate from retailers in St James is introduced to encourage use of the facilities there, and no adequate bus service available, the footfall (or carfall) will not be sufficient to sustain the businesses therein in the long term.

Additionally ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) cameras are a large turn off for many who fear being landed with a ticket through the post days or weeks later when there is no recognition of what happened (to say nothing of all those foreign plated cars that seem to get away with it as it is too costly to identify owners and take parking enforcement action).
