Yes I watched the same programme Paul. Electric cars - aren't the brilliant? 100 miles for £1. And the saving of all those harmful carbon dioxide emissions, well that's fantastic..............or is it?
So where does all that electric come from? Hmmnn, good question. Wind farms? Nope they don't work.
Wind-up rubber band in the back of the car? Don't think so.
Ahh! I know it comes from fossil fuel. You know coal and gas that are burnt in power stations so perhaps they're not so environmentally clean as the proponents (mainly rich luvvies types) would want us to believe. Let's face it if the government didn't put their hands in our pockets to give the £5000 subsidies for these things there would be perhaps ten sold over the past year or so instead of 1000 - very similar to the scandal of new wind farms which would not exist without robbing the taxpayer.
If you've got a job like Quentin Wilson then you can afford to while away your time by waiting for the car to charge up. Most sensible people opt for driving to the garage and filling up with delicious, appetising petrol or diesel. The man owns two of them. Methinks he's being paid too much. He must love driving in winter with the heating off as this knocks miles off the distance you can drive without recharging and not forgetting the headlights during night time excursions.
