Saw a feature about another green policy on TV today..on Politics Today they spoke of the new electric cars. Quentin Wilson, well known motoring correspondent one time with Top Gear, was singing the praises of the electric car. WE saw him drive around London in near silence and the thing, a standard Nissan but this time with no engine, ran very well. Accelerates well, silent, comfortable, no gears to piddle about with and it can run for 100 miles. The last bit is the problem as well as the cost of it...24,000 to 36,000 per car.
Several talking heads bemoaned the fact the HMG were supposed to install 1,500 charging points, but so far there is a hole in their green policy in that only 500 or so are in use.
The good news is the running costs...you can go for 100miles for just £1
