Witnesses sought after Land Rover hits bus
Kent Police is appealing for witnesses to an incident in Walmer where a Land Rover collided with a minibus but drove off without stopping.
The collision occurred at 10.40 am on Friday 3 August in Dover Road, Walmer near the Thompson Bell public House, where the white LDV minibus was parked when it was struck by a black Land Rover Discovery.
Police would like to hear from people who were waiting at a nearby bus stop who witnessed the incident.
Witnesses and anyone with information is asked to contact PC Ian Crouch on 101.

i think it is a nationwide crackdown brian, caught a bit on news24 earlier.
the worst areas for this type of offending are the west midlands and west yorkshire.

blimey brian that is a great number and the roads should be a lot safer now.
the accident rate among uninsured drivers is very high.

We would never go out with out the car has full cover etc,so many cars and lorrys rushing about and members of the public that just walkout into the road without looking, somtimes you need eyes in the back of your head, some walk right behind the car when you are trying to park, but thats life, but now I an older I am more awhere so take more care when in the car,I would find it hard to live with, if I hit somone.

the only problem with this crackdown is unless they get a custodial sentence, they go out and get another car even if they get banned from driving they will carry on doing it it's a bit like painting the forth bridge it just goes on and on, because they do not give a damn as to who it hurts damages and injures.Makes my blood boil as it puts the good guy's premiums up every year.

I think the point of seizing the car is that it is more effective than a small fine (which might not get paid) as it really does hit the owner who has to buy another car which is also good for the economy.
As for tax and insurance these selfish idiots just do not care but I bet they are the first to claim benefits as fast as they can but that is another issue.

i know of people that buy a car cheap at auction, never tax, insure or m.o.t it and don't worry too much when it is eventually clamped and taken away.
the cost of buying another one at auction is less than paying tax, insurances and fines.

If a car is uninsured then it is taken off of the road to prevent it getting driven again. There is a cost for the owner, or someone with permission of the owner, to pick it up. They must also provide proof of insurance as well. There is a daily charge for storage and if it is not picked up in usually 14 days the car can be destroyed.
I think what really needs to be looked at is the way this country deals with insurance. Why not, like most of Europe, insure the car not the person? There are conditions with this of course but it works so well elsewhere.

When I lived in Kuwait, 3rd party insurance was included in the price of the annual road tax.
