Many of us have been campaigning for this to happen for over a decade but there is no mention of actual location which has always been the stumbling block.

Being a cynic, and a tesco hater, I can only imagine that the next stage in this process might be a request for planning permission for a tesco extra store in Folkestone Road.

I wouldn't put much past them but they wouldn't do well Bryan Hall has lost business to the GP who opened a convenience store nearby - not enough trade for three I would have thought. Has to be noted that people have to visit the store in order to vote!!

Been in contact with Keef who is Chairperson of the Residents association and the first he heard about was from me!! It is wellknown that the Clarendon and Westbury Community association along with some councillors have been campaigning for a play area since the last one was ripped out in 2003/4. The estimated cost of a new one is around £75,000 plus maintenance costs. Add all that together plus no suggestion of a location my conclusion is "every little doesn't really help"

Yes that is true I was dealing with it as a cllr up there in 2003,without going into it all again but will just add that there was £250.000 ,put in the bank by the company that was working up there on the flats,it was to build a new play area the money was handed over to the D.D.C. and it was used. but not for a new play area for Folkestone rd.But the money was there to build it and not to be used for other things.

Casting my mind back there was a proposal to put a play area in behind the community centre where there are now allotments, seemed a good idea but came to nothing. £250, 000 would have paid for the countries first super play area.

If I was still on the council and that ward I know what I would be asking now and what I would like to see.
The money was there just to see that happen.I was not the only cllr working on this at the time.

That area of land behind the Community Centre belongs to Municipal Charities, who have just paid out for new gates there..My understanding is. The committee of Community Centre donot want a play area there.
The area of land top of Clarendon Place should be levelled and a play area put back there. There are houses near there and small children should be accompanied by an adult for safety reasons.

DDC have stated that they have no plans for a play area behind Clarendon Place. Any money from an outside source is unlikely to cover the cost of levelling the land and providing equipment.
