whilst nice to read about their enthusiasm i would have thought this would have been an ideal job for the community payback scheme.

Thats great piece of news there Howard and i agree it would as you say be ideal for the payback scheme, but its equally as good to let these kids have ago as well gives them a sense that they have achived something for the community at large.

No - why would you want to deny kids whose only "Crime" is not having work the opportunity of gaining some self respect and creating a sense of community and ownership? You would rather use this golden opportunity to give someone a leg up instead as a half hearted punishment for some "bad lads" - honestly shame on you.

Does it really matter who does the job so long as it is done enthusiastically and done well. Good luck to the youngsters.

Hurrah for our young!! So often the few (or the blatantly hormonal!) are used to bestow a bad name on them as a group. Some of them behave badly - so do grown-ups!! Good luck to these youngsters and fair play!!!
