Every time Dover tries to pull itself out of the mire that consecutive town and district councils have placed the town in, it is pulled back by a few self-interested parties looking for short term gain, who are willing to drag the town back once more to a town of the lowest common denominator.

Yesterday was a very sad day for the future generations of Dovorians who will have to spend a lifetime trying to counteract the disastrous decisions of their forebears.

History will remember Dover's decision-makers of the class of 2015 as bodies that bequeathed the town a lifeboat full of holes, before riding off in to the sunset with the few who will profit from the drowning of the many.

Councillors, please do not say your decision was in people of Dover's name, the people of Dover sent you a very clear message through hundreds of official objections and other mediums that they did not want this development. Objections you chose to ignore.

Yesterday saw the last vestiges of any democracy in Dover draw its last breath.
