  Welcome to the forum Patrick I saw your objection on the planning website, good to see so many Dover people standing up on this one - in the past DHB steamrollered through what they wanted. The pier was meant to be closed over a month ago but the backlash from the people has meant radical deployment of spin doctors to make us play ball. Not working so far as the planning application is still to be heard. Incidentally I was told by an industry insider about a year ago that the container terminal idea was just a vanity project and likely to be a financial disaster.
  
  The plans then showed a marina going up the eastern side of the pier for about a third of the way so there wasn't much noise made about the proposal, since then they changed it all to the detriment of all.
