I am new to this forum but have been following the trends. I worry about the way Dover harbour is going. I tend to agree with Howard. To me the DWDR seems like commercialism at it's worst. The DHB should learn a lesson from Ramsgate Port (a terrible waste of money and look what's left). Is this what we want for Dover? Ferry operators come and go regardless of what is provided. The existing Marina is quite adequate. Leisure boating has declined in recent years due mainly to recession and higher fuel costs. A new Marina would be for just a select minority. I don't believe this project will bring revival, leisure, recreational facilities, new skills or long term employment, do much for Dover's heritage or make vast improvements to traffic. The pier is listed and should not be molested and taken away from the public and people of Dover. All the DHB needs to do is some serious clearance and tidying of mess.
