I bet those voters saying all this sit at their TVs braying like donkeys, acting like morons and buffons to the antics of their favourite football team.... or rugger team, or cricket, or........................ (add your own obsession in this space)
It is all the same motives and emotions at work. MPs are a reflection of we the public.

exactly the point barry sport is meant as a form of escapism and fun and we pay for the pleasure.
running the country is for real and we pay them for the fun they are having.

Do we all not seek out what fun we can get while at work?
Some people have a lot more fun than others. What some think of as fun is boring to others.
I get bored stiff by football and other sport. Football fans pay a lot of money to watch football players have fun while screaming and shouting at them.
I find the 'performance' and fencing at PMQ's fun and interesting and pay far too much tax for the privilege

i have heard some great raconteurs at football and cricket grounds but not heard anything of quality for many years from the commons benches.
the main bods have scriptwriters that simply wouldn't pass muster in an average pub.
