    Press Release info:

Dover Regatta is celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2008. The event has grown and grown since its inception and is today one of the largest free events in the area. This year sees the introduction of some new attractions alongside the old favourites. Once again Saturday will see the Harbour full of action with Dragon Boat racing, powerboat racing as well as dinghy and yacht taster sessions and racing. Come lunchtime the crowds will gather to witness the amazing coordination of the Air Sea Rescue helicopter and the Dover Lifeboat as they demonstrate how they work together to carry out a rescue at sea.

Sunday will see the Harbour full of action once again with displays by the ever popular Newfoundland Dogs, Dinghy and Yacht taster sessions and for the first time this year the powerboats will provide a display close to the shore just before the Parade of Sail. Once again we are pleased that the Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, Admiral the Lord Boyce will be joining us to take the salute as the procession of waterbourne craft passes the commentary point. Following the parade of sail the sea swimmers get their turn to compete in a 2k sea swim.

With so much happening on the water it is easy to forget that the promenade and the skies will be full of action too. Along with all the usual stalls including once again the French and Latin markets this year will see displays of unarmed combat throughout the day by the Royal Marines Commandos. There is plenty to keep the children entertained including circus skills workshops and craft workshops both of which are free of charge.

In the air Dennis Kenyon will be demonstrating the extreme agility of his little helicopter at various times throughout the weekend whilst Skycharter UK Ltd will be providing more sedate helicopter pleasure flights over Dover on both days. The PWRR Tigers parachute display team will also be dropping in on Sunday afternoon.

If that isn't enough the Just Unique roadshow will be on hand all weekend to provide commentary on all the events and to provide a stage for some live music. They will of course be hosting the beach party which finishes with the firework display on Saturday evening. Christians Together in Dover will once again provide a fitting end to the Regatta with Songs of Praise on Sunday afternoon.
