  Brian, there was an article recently along the lines of an experiment Morgan Spurlock did for 'Supersize Me' comparing McDonald's food to a place that sold homemade burgers and chips. Spurlock left food from both places outside for weeks in order to see how McDonald's use of preservatives and other additives affected the way the food broke down. There were some concerns that McD's used formaldehyde as a preservative although this was not proved, as the food didn't go bad.
