  Great news seeing Morrisons here at last, and I do hope they do well. Another thing that really needs sorting out, (pun not intended), is the main post office in Pencester. I avoid it like the plague, but went there on my way home from work today to post a parcel off and there was the usual queue, with the hot and bothered, (and who can blame them?). I timed myself from 11.25-11.43 in the queue, before a vacant position came up. Only three positions open. Are they short of staff? I`ve always used either New Bridge, (now closed), or Whitfield in the past, but whenever I have been to Pencester P.O., there`s always been a queue. On a happy and positive side of all this, I bumped into Howard again. .
  Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

  i used to use new bridge too, much better service, pleasant staff and shorter queues.
  
  post office counters must be coining it in now with all these closures, the main one in folkeston(w.h.smith) always has
  queues as long if not longer than our one in pencester road.

  Use either St Margarets or Whitfield, always quick and free there

  Yes Ive had to trawl through the misery of that miserable Post Office in Pencester. The price you pay for austere times and falling PO revenue means all those peripery post offices, village type ones with friendly faces, have been axed or are about to be.
  
  Posting christmas cards to Ireland these days you need those european postage levels so it costs more...so you have to queue for the relevent stamps and the airmail sticker thingys, you cant bypass it, and like Colin I was there for that amount of time too, a right bummer! I wrote the first draught of War and Peace: The Sequel while waiting.

  We are fortunate in being, literally, just around the corner from Eythorne Post Office with a wonderful subpostmaster in Jamie Neilson for whom customer service is paramount. I used to use the Bench Street Post Office until it closed down, and the guy who had that (Phil Blackman) likewise had a work ethic that I found very much to my liking. Pencester? No thanks, you're just a number in there.
