I remember a long time ago we used to have post on Christmas day & Boxing day when did that stop,& does my memory serve me right that they used to be two posts on Christmas day,I wonder if they are some old posties that can remember.
Someone told me that the temporary postman/women were all given the sack on Christmas Eve so the regular postman, could get any tips the were about. I my area we do not have a regular postman.

I don't remember having post on either of those days but can remember when buses ran on Christmas day between 10 am and 4 pm so that people could get to and from Christmas lunch at relatives also there was a full programme of football matches.
I had a regular postman up until a year ago now it can be anyone with a lot of wrongly delivered mail.

I do not remember post on Christmas Day either.
I remember we always gave the postman and dustman a Christmas box as they were regular faces now seldom see the same ones.

was postie temp 20 years ago and we did not deliver on Christmas day/boxing and stayed on after, although we dwindled and a few of us went permanent. And can tell you now from being a postie back then we did not work bank holidays delivering, only bank holiday was good Friday that we worked.

There was an article in the Dover Express recently where mention was made about a postman who because of snowfall on Christmas day did not finish his round until 7pm, think the article was about Peter Bean?
