Well.. as some of you may know my car was hit on York Street roundabout last night, by a foreign lorry that failed to stop.
This was not helped by Port Of Dover Police directing lorries from Jubilee Way up the A20 but because they have NO CARE about the town or the traffic situation at all , ( its not their problem apparently, its Kent Polices!!) at York Street roundabout the lorries were just turning round and joining the queues.
I AM SOO ANNOYED because this could have been solved by Port of Dover police on that roundabout as they were the ones CAUSING the traffic to turn around and drive dangerously.
Rang to complain and basically fobbed off that its Kent Polices problem... hold on, ITS THEIR road traffic management that CAUSED the issues so therefore... THEIR PROBLEM!!
So... what can WE are a town do to solve this jumped up force who care very little for anyone or the town from continuing to allow foreign lorries to get away with breaking the law and cause the misery for more drivers?
And before anyone asked, No i didnt get his reg, mores the ruddy pity because now I am stuck with £250 repair on my car and an increase in my insurance charges!
Did i mention i was annoyed?

So long as you are all right that is all that really matters but I can understand why you are annoyed.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Ha.. and I have just read thier mission....
Our mission is to "uphold the law and exercise our powers to provide an environment which is crime free, where customers and staff can go about their business without fear of intimidation or violence and where traffic can move unimpeded and safely."
AND Officers are appointed by two Justices of the Peace to "be constables within the limits of the harbour, dock, pier and premises of the undertakers (Dover Harbour Board) and within one mile of the same."

Glad you are ok Jennni. I'm sure Cllr Collor, Brian, Stewart and Chris can support your experiences. They have held many a meeting to try and resolve this issue each time to be told "it's not our job" by both authorities.

It is little wonder that the criminal can drive a coach & horses between, around and through the forces of 'law and order', when the authorities can blithely take action without taking responsibility.
If 'they' are unwilling to accept 'ownership' of, and therefore responsibility for, acting outwith the docks then plod-ordinaire should accompany them.
£250's worth of damage does not sound as if the lorry driver knew anything had happened Jennie, but it is good that you were unharmed.
Ignorance is bliss, bliss is happiness, I am happy...to draw your attention to the possible connectivity in the foregoing.

Brian - the Port of Dover Police are authorised to act within 1 mile of the port so it is often them who cause the traffic problems - sorry run traffic management
