Sounds like a very organised gang of agitators involved, no doubt with their own agenda.

How do we stop this happening in future as it will happen while bored Western European trouble makers plan their next away day?

army patrols at both ports and all between space, all so army/navy patrols along the med between portagul and greese/turkey.with orders to reinstate from where they started from.

Agree about Army patrols at the ports Brian but totally impossible to police the Mediterranean coastline where people traffickers are known to use secluded coves and beaches to dump people on. It is nearly as easy to find inlets around our coastline where it is safe from prying eyes.

Agree there Howard but isn't it amazing how easily a reporter and cameraman can always find them?

The interior minister just waffles on about the law and order bit but still won't approve military intervention.

They're probably concerned about the look of sending the military against refugees, strange as they don't normally worry about what the world thinks.
Can only be thankful that there wasn't a group of isis with AK's and suicide vests, you can be sure they'll be looking at that as a possibility having seen how easily they broke through and boarded a ferry.
