Are members currently not representative of the community then? Does being an elected representative give you more power than a member?

Absolutely no idea but I think what is important is that this first appeared on their website on the 3rd of December with a closing date 13 days later. No press releases have been issued either. A cynic might conclude that the aim was to get no applicants so that when the public start to see the disaster taking place on the seafront DHB can counter with "we asked for more community input but nobody was interested".

Perhaps all current members have other vested interests in the port so they are trying to find truly independent representation, I wonder if they'll ever get to take up the post?

I have messaged the Editor of the Dover Express and asked whether they were sent the press release.

Better than that Howard, they were paid for a full page advert week before last.
Although there is little information available about the PCF without asking for it, details

Not sure what percentage of the population buy the hard copy of the paper now Ray with so much of it online for free. Again it is only two weeks notice for people to think about it, decide to apply and then present a resume of how the port and community would benefit from their input.

There's a lot more in the paper than online, and in more detail - and you can skip the adverts!
The website is so heavy on graphics and pop-up ads I very rarely browse through it, but just load a particular item that has been linked.
And with our rural broadband it's often quicker to wait for Thursday and take the bus into town to buy a copy than wait for it to load

I wish YOU would give it up Mr Matcham
Your inane comments every time the DHB is mentioned are very tiresome. Leave the comments to those who know what they're talking about for goodness' sake!
There's always a little truth behind every "Just kidding", a little emotion behind every "I don't care" and a little pain behind every "I'm ok".

I do not think Dover even gets a free paper, I know I have not had one for years.
Vic's post has gone, Jacqui so you will have nothing further to complain about.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

He has deleted all of his posts on this thread, done it before leaving threads looking meaningless just because he doesn't want to make a fool of himself on a forum the public can see.

Jan and whoever else may be interested you can register for the Ashford Herald free edition which is delivered to your inbox every Thursday. The news is not only from the Ashford area but from many parts of Kent. There is also a list of places inside where the free paper's hard copy can be picked up.
