Can't say I'm surprised at the dog's names except for Rex which I rarely hear of nowadays, when I was a kid practically all male dogs were called that and male cats were usually Tom and budgies Joey irrespective of their gender.

Having taught in an inner London school I would not even call a dog 'Chevron'.
