As soon as I read it on here, I grabbed my camera and went down there.
They weren't going to have a service down at the War Memorial, but at a safe lock-up that was owned by the sea or army cadets. I understand the DTC said to them about having a service there and so that's what they did - all last minute I understand.
It was a lovely service (the weather was beautiful, a big change from this morning), apart from the mike didn't work very well, so we couldn't hear the Minister, or the youngsters who read out various passages.
The trailer with all the poppies on was beautiful and the Town Council gave one to be put on, along with some others, but we couldn't hear who they were from.
A really old truck brought/pulled the poppies down and apparantly it broke down a few times, but considering its age, did a good job.
I'll see if I can down-load some photos (Colette showed me how to, but that was a long time ago.
