22:1485374Just discovered that not only is there no train service on Christmas day but there is also no train service Boxing day. So I will have drive my son to London to go to work on Sunday if i want to see him Christmas day.
Yet another example of poor service from Southeastern

22:1785375It has been appalling. Southeastern have really failed on almost every level this Christmas.

22:3585383Not poor service at all a lot of track work gets done on these two days. Why would you expect the trains to run when buses do not or come to that shops not open. These people are just as entitled to Christmas off as everyone else, I always feel sorry for those that have to work.

22:3985384Well the industries that i have worked inhave always worked Boxing day and also Christmas Day
Even my son's industry works Boxing Day but he can't get to work by train.
Of course trains will run in the rest of the EU just not in the UK on the 26th
In fact we are probably the only country in the world with no trains running on the 26th

00:2185393Christmas is one of those periods when Network Rail can get a 4day possession of the track to carry out major remedial works. It is not the train operators fault (Southeastern in this case) as they only rent track slots from the infrastructure operator. If you wan to bitch at someone, then bitch at Network Rail.
Yes Southeastern have been poor over this period of inclement weather, not in terms of running services, but most absolutely in terms of communicating with their passengers. I did note that their website today was much more informative than during the previous snow fall, so maybe they are learning.

09:1885403I understand, also, that they had their snow-plough type trains in for repair and therefore out of commission - in December. Doh!!

11:0885427usually when we get snow it is in january or february, maybe they had planned to have them in tip top condition ready for those dates?

11:2385433No excuse Howard, they should have been serviced between April and October not at the start of winter.

18:4385520By the way Trevor welcome to the Forum, you of course have the pleasure of sitting next to me at the Council chamber,as I sit on the far left of the Labour group and you sit on the far right of the Tory benches.Glad to see your Australian Cricket team are at least making a fight of losing the ashes, but don't get to excited a 3-1 defeat is still a defeat.
Did you know that the British are the world Boomerang champions as well !

20:5785536As I said earlier John - the trains have run ok - there have been problems but overall the service has been ok - it is the lack of communication by your employer that really is the problem
