    Hilary French, the president of the Girls' School Association, will tomorrow say that children at state schools should be taught manners, encouraged to speak in coherent sentences, learn foreign languages and develop team skills from the age of seven if they are to get on top and improve their social mobility. She will also warn that the Government's narrow focus on exam performance in state schools is perpetuating the dominance of British society by the privately educated.
