"The former Kent Police Authority chairman has won all but one of the county votes declared so far, but failed to secure 51% of the overall vote.

She and Conservative candidate Craig Mackinlay have now entered the second-preference stage.

Ms Barnes has a total of 95,901 votes - 46.8% of the overall vote - and Mr Mackinlay 51,671, or 25.2%.

Any of the eliminated candidates' second-preference votes for either of the surviving candidates will be added to the running totals - choosing the winner, who will need a total of around 106,000."
